What is this site for?

This website was created to inspire people to get acclimated into the world of UK politics. There is not a specific age group targeted for this website, but it can be a great stepping stone for younger voters when they are faced with the democratic task of electing their next government. We are lucky, in this society, that anyone who would like to, can have a say in their future. The only problem is getting into politics in the first place. That is why this site was created - easy reading, clearly spaced, and not heavily detailed summaries of different parties' manifestos and policies. All the information in the summaries come directly from the manifestos themselves or articles by that particular party and include very little paraphrasing. These summaries do not include all the information that the parties have presented themselves, only snip-its into their basic values and ideals. If you find these interesting, please continue to read about these policies and parties and form your own opinions on them. There are links for suggested reading connected to this website where you can go into more depth with your research if you would like to. To summarise, this website is not an intense, detailed analysis of every party's actions and policies. Instead, it should merely be used for those interested in politics, but don't know where to start, to get an idea of the values of our most revelant UK parties in today's society.

Who am I?

I am a 17-year-old student at Hills Road Sixth Form, and this is my Extended Project. I decided to create this website because I have always been interested in politics and media such as website design. I have been researching effective, captivating, and informational designs for websites. I used this project to answer some questions. Such as why are some websites easier to read than others? Do the website designs reflect the information presented? What design would be best to ensure people truly take in the information? This is my end project. The design is simple, clean, yet colourful to capture readers. Block colours in a cool-toned theme to catch people's attention without being overwhelming. Clear, simple buttons with unambiguous writing.

Is it truly unbiased?

When I decided to come up with the idea of creating a website for people to use to get introduced to the divided, complicated, and incredibly important world of UK politics, my position as being neutral was incredibly important. Too often we see the same headline worded differently in articles from newspapers on different sides of the political spectrum. It seems to me, that once you fall into a side of politics that resonates with you, everything you read, watch, or hear about, supports your side and discredits the other. Therefore, I have made an effort to use no persuasive writing of my own and include none of my personal views. Of course, people have their own opinions, and that is a good thing. However, I believe in being open to other opinions, in taking steps to overcome our personal ignorance, we become enlightened to the current political climate. Every fact, policy, and statement for each party written on this website comes directly from the parties' manifestos or websites. All these parties might sound like they have great strategies for handling our futures, but this website does not reflect their successes, failures, controversies, or issues. I urge every reader to look into these parties with a neutral eye and make up their own mind about them. Finding unbiased sources is incredibly difficult today, so I urge you to try several different sources to find the true facts and decide for yourselves.
